At River Photo Studios, we feel the photo should
be about the subject and not about the props or clothing. We achieve
amazing results by keeping it simple. Here are a few pointers
for a successful session.
- Keep clothing simple. Light to mid tone solid colors work
best. Large and medium patterns should not be used.

- For photos of more than one subject, dress all subjects in
similar toned clothing (e.g., all jeans with white shirts)
- For sessions with outfit changes, start with the dressier
outfit
- Only the subjects to be photographed should be present at
the session. Extra observers will distract the subject and make
the session less successful.
Additional pointers for children’s session
- We ask that only one parent be present
- Do not bring friends, grandparents,
nannies, assistants or siblings that won’t be photographed
- we don't want your child to be distracted
- NO sick children
- We do not recommend outfit changes
for young children because it can be disruptive to the flow
of the session
- Bring along any drinks or snacks that
you think your child might need as long as the snacks are not
messy and won’t stain your child’s outfit
- For newborns and babies, bring extra
blankets and head supports
- Bring a special toy or stuffed animal
to help your child feel relaxed
